New Animated Popup menus take to long to display
*Applies to: Windows 98, 2000 and XP*

Windows 98 introduced transition effects for menus and tooltips.  Based on the speed of your machine this new feature could affect performance and cause delays when selecting a pull down.  To disable this feature follow the steps below.

Step 1 -  Right mouse click on the desktop and select Properties from the context menu.
 
Step 2 -  Windows 98 or 2000 users go to Step 2A. Windows XP users go to Step 2B.
 
  2A -  Select the Effects tab from the Display Properties dialog box.
 
  2B -  Select the Appearance tab from the Display Properties dialog box.  Click the Effects... button.

Step 3 -  Windows 98 users go to Step 3A. Windows 2000 or XP users go to Step 3B.
 
  3A -  Uncheck the box that has the text "Animate windows, menus and lists".
 
  3B -  Uncheck the box that has the text "Use the following transition effect for menus and tooltips:".  Click the OK button to accept the change and exit the Effects dialog box.

Step 4 -  Click the OK button to accept the change and exit the Display Properties dialog box.
