Improving Regeneration through Controlling Layers - Part 2
*Applies to: AutoCAD R12, 13, 14, 2000, 2000i, 2002, 2004 and 2005*

When controlling the display of layers in your drawing.  You want to make sure that you set the layers on/off or thawed/frozen as needed.  Layers that are turned off will be regenerated every time a regen is completed versus if the layers were frozen instead. Frozen layers can't be interacted with unless they are thawed like a layer that is turned off.  Even though a layer is turned off it still can be selected through the selection option of All.

Note: So next time if you know that you won't be needed objects on a layer that you are about to turn off.  Why don't you just freeze the layer instead, but if you know that you are going to turn it back on in a couple of commands just turn it off like you normally would.
